Privacy Notice

Last updated: 19 October 2026

This notice explains how Mounir Academy Ltd (“we”, “us”) operates the Mounir Institute website and handles personal information. Please read it before submitting an application, assessment recording or payment.

1. Who we are and how to contact us

Data controller: Mounir Academy Ltd, trading as Mounir Institute.
Address: 17 Formans Road, Birmingham B11 3AA, United Kingdom.
Email: info@mounirinstitute.com.

2. Information we may collect

3. Why we use it and our lawful bases

We use information to respond to enquiries and applications, assess recitation and recommend learning, provide lessons and student support, administer payments and subscriptions, keep appropriate business records, protect the website from abuse and meet legal obligations. Depending on the activity, our lawful basis may be taking steps at your request or performing a contract, compliance with a legal obligation, our legitimate interests in running and securing the service, or consent where required. We will seek consent where it is the appropriate basis and explain how to withdraw it.

4. Voice recordings and assessments

If you submit a recording, we use it to review recitation, provide feedback and assess suitability for relevant learning. Please do not include other people in a recording without their permission. Access should be limited to people who need it for assessment and teaching. Recordings are not intended for public display or marketing. Ask us if you want a recording deleted; we may need to retain limited records where a legal or legitimate record-keeping reason applies.

5. Children and young learners

Where a learner is under 18, a parent or legal guardian should review this notice and contact us about the application and learning arrangements. We aim to collect only information needed to deliver the educational service, and we do not knowingly use a child’s information for targeted advertising. Please contact us if you believe a child has provided information without appropriate adult involvement.

6. Who we share information with

We share information only as needed with service providers supporting the website and service, which may include Vercel for hosting, Supabase for database/storage services, and Stripe for payment processing, plus email or communications providers actually used to contact you. We may also disclose information where required by law or to protect our rights and users. Providers may process information in other countries; where applicable, appropriate transfer safeguards should be in place. Check the relevant provider’s privacy information for its own processing.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep information only for as long as reasonably needed for the purpose it was collected, including assessment and teaching, support, security, dispute resolution and legal/accounting obligations. Retention periods differ by record type. Student records and recitation recordings are kept for 3 years after a student leaves. Applications and assessment answers that do not lead to a place are kept for 3 years after we were last in touch. Payment records are kept for as long as tax and accounting law requires. Technical logs are kept briefly for security and then deleted. When a period ends we securely delete or anonymise the information. You can ask us about a particular record at any time.

8. Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you may have rights to access, correct, erase or restrict your personal information, object to certain processing, request portability, and withdraw consent where consent is the basis. These rights are not absolute in every case. Contact info@mounirinstitute.com to make a request. You can also complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

9. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect information, but no website or transmission can be guaranteed completely secure. Please do not send payment card details by email. Contact us promptly if you have a concern about information you submitted.

10. Changes

We may update this notice as our services or legal obligations change. The latest version will be published on this page with its update date.

If you would like more detail about how a particular type of information is handled, contact us at info@mounirinstitute.com.
